Dutch Elm disease destroyed many British mature elm trees in the 70s and 80s. However British elm trees may well be on the way back.

Work has commenced on disease resistant strains of the British elm, however in the meantime elms from other areas are very popular.

Dutch Elm disease is still a huge problem, however if you are looking for Elm trees that are disease resistant take a look at the following species. (remember that disease resistant does not mean immune ....)
