Anemone bulbs and plants for sale

Anemone are from the Buttercup family and provide us with a range of very pretty flowering woodland plants. Look for Anemone apennia with its blue flowers and soft foliage. Anemone nemorosa (wood anemone) is a widely spread and easy to grow species and can be grown in pots or containers as well as in the garden.

Easy to grow and with many varieties readily naturalizing into the garden they do make a colourful addition to many landscapes.

These lovely plants prefer part shade and a humus rich moist well drained soil for best results.

Although the species and varieties do differ in general care is fairly easy.

Anemone Care

All are best in a woodland situation, and all grow best in light or dappled shade. The spring flowering types grow well beneath deciduous trees, and with a little soil preparation they will happily spread to form a good clump over time.

The secret is to allow a build up of leaf mold over time. The Anemone rhizomes flourish in these conditions. You can speed things up a little by lightly digging over the soil and adding compost, or good organic mulch.
