Herbs have been used widely in the UK for centuries, cooking herbs, medicinal herbs and aromatic herbs. Herbs are also used as insect repellents as dyes and in soaps shampoos and cosmetics. Cooking herbs include rosemary, parsley, sage, oregano,thyme, chervil, chives, basil, dill and many more. Aloe has been used to treat burns, lavender is used as an aromatic, witch hazel is a herb used in cosmetics, valerian as a sedative. Liqorice is used both as a flavouring and medicinally. Wormwood and tansy are two herbs used as insect repellents. Growing condition vary greatly, so ask your supplier for an information sheet. You need to make sure that you check with a reliable source before using herbs medicinally.

Chervil is a member of the carrot family, it tends to grows best in a cool moist shaded position. In full sun it tends to go to seed very easily. Chervil grows well in pots. Chervil is at its best while still green, once it starts to change color it loses its taste. Chervilis used extensively in French cooking for flavouring eggs, sauces, and chicken dishes. Cheril can also be used in salads where its aniseed flavour adds a nice touch.
