Salvia argentea

Salvia argentea

With the best woolly silver foliage of any, Salvia argentea the 'Silver Sage' is a wonderful plant for a warm sunny position.

Attractive yellowish white flowers in summer rise above the foliage in summer, they usually wait until the second year before appearing, however this species seems a little short lived. After two years it will probably die.

Propagation

From removing the small side shoots in spring and over wintering in a greenhouse or germination from seed.

Care

Sun and drainage are the key elements to success with Salvia argentea, try a raised mound in the garden, or grow in a well drained container. It will spread to around 25 inches (60cm) in a good year however in the UK the cold seems to slow it down.
