Kaempferia or 'Peacock Gingers' or 'Sand Gingers' is also known as the 'resurrection lily. Kaempferia galanga is used for medicinal purposes and as a spice. These plants are from tropical to sub tropical areas of South East Asia and you would need to be particularly enthusiastic to grow these in the UK.
Although they are grown in a few gardens they are usually found indoors, in conservatories and greenhouses grown by collectors. Winter dormant, and during this period they need to be kept dry.
Ornamental species such as Kaempferia parishii, Kaempferia roscoeana and Kaempferia rotunda are the best known species in the UK.
