Paphiopedilum venustum
A wonderful species from the mountains of Nepal is Paphiopedilum venustum. ( see picture right ) This a cool growing orchid that would naturally grow in areas of protected shade.
A fascinating combination of green and purple this a varied species with some having a lot more purple and less green.
Care and growing conditions
An epiphytic orchid requiring dappled shade (low light) a little humidity a dryish winter and a moist but well drained growing medium.Flowering in late winter Paphiopedilum tranlienianum looks fantastic when planted in a group. We suggest repotting mature specimens every 1 - 2 years
