Care

You will need a sunny position and a well drained soil to grow Baptisia australis. They do not require a rich soil and rarely require fertilizer.

These are fully hardy and will form a clump over time which can be lifted and divided in late winter to early spring, however it is best grown fron seed as it is another of those plants that seems to resent being disturbed.

We like to prune back in late winter as well, the seed pods are attractive through the dull winter.
